Triumph on Stage: “Paanch Kanyayen” Shines at Inter-College Youth Competition 2025
The stage came alive with powerful storytelling, raw emotion, and cultural depth at the Inter-College Youth Competition 2025 hosted by Kerala Public School, Kadma, Jamshedpur. Among the many remarkable performances, our one-act play “Paanch Kanyayen”, directed by Prem Sharma, stood out as a compelling theatrical masterpiece—earning us the First Prize in Theatre Production.
A Story Rooted in History, Told Through Women’s Voices
“Paanch Kanyayen” explores the untold emotional and psychological journeys of tribal women in the aftermath of the Mahabharata war. While the epic traditionally focuses on kings, warriors, and divine interventions, our play shifts the narrative lens toward marginalized voices—women who bore the silent consequences of war.
Through evocative performances, the play delves into themes of loss, resilience, identity, and survival. It reflects how these women, often overlooked in grand narratives, carried the burden of rebuilding life amidst devastation.
A Vision Brought to Life
Under the direction of Prem Sharma, the production blended traditional storytelling with contemporary theatrical techniques. The use of minimalistic props, tribal music, and expressive choreography added authenticity and emotional depth to the performance.
