About the Project

The series was developed under the FactShala Innovation Lab, an initiative by DataLeads and supported by Google. FactShala continues to play a vital role in promoting media literacy across India, focusing on combating misinformation and encouraging informed decision-making in everyday life.

Bringing these ideas to screen, the series presented a collection of impactful short films such as Gunje Gossip, Tufan Aane Wala Hai, Chunav, Toll Free, and Rog Kayi Ilaj Wahi. Each story explored a different layer of misinformation—ranging from viral rumors and public gossip to health myths and election-related narratives—making the content both relatable and thought-provoking.

Crafting the Vision: Team Behind the Series

The creative execution of the project was driven by a passionate and skilled team. Direction and casting were led by Prem Sharma, ensuring authentic performances and grounded storytelling. The visual language of the series was shaped by Director of Photography Rajeev Ranjan Kumar, who captured the essence of each story with realism and depth.

Production responsibilities were handled by Aman Das, with Divyanshi Shukla serving as Assistant Director, supporting the smooth execution of the project. The narratives were written by Ujjal, whose storytelling translated complex issues into simple, engaging scripts.

The editing, led by Viswajeet, brought together each story seamlessly, enhancing its emotional and narrative impact. Supporting the cinematography team, Assistant Cameraman Raj Karmakar contributed to capturing the visual details that enriched the storytelling.

Combating Misinformation Through Storytelling

More than just a video series, this project stands as a strong social initiative. By combining education with storytelling, it addresses one of the most pressing challenges of today—the spread of misinformation. It encourages viewers to question, verify, and think critically before accepting or sharing information.

Why This Matters

In today’s fast-paced digital world, misinformation can influence opinions, health decisions, and even democratic processes. Initiatives like this help bridge the gap between information and understanding. By focusing on grassroots awareness, the series ensures that critical thinking becomes a part of everyday life, not just an academic concept.

This project highlights how meaningful storytelling, local collaboration, and a clear social purpose can come together to create real impact.
